Best of Show Get Together

Hobby HQ organized a Best of Show get together for local modelers on 10 February 2007 where modelers would bring their best kit for a small-scale competition.  It was opened for all models in any scale except for gunplay (gundam plastic model).

The main purpose however was not the competition but as a gathering for local modelers. There were quite a number of modelers turned up at the gathering including yours truly. And at hand to help at the gathering were nope other than the Selangor and Federal Territory Plastic Modeling Society (SFTPMS). It was quite an enjoyable gathering where modelers from different backgrounds exchanged ideas and techniques.

Below are pictures taken at $the gathering. All pictures were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix S9500 and a Vivitar 728 external flashlight. Click on a picture to view a larger version.

These are display only kits as they were winners at other competitions and hence cannot enter this competition.

HGUC MSM-03 Gogg

I’ve finally got myself an airbrush and an air compressor. Actually I got it quite some time ago, even before I build my own spray booth. You can see the spray booth here. I just only recently started airbrushing.

To start things off I thought I use a cheap and simple kit as an experiment. After all, this is my first airbrush project and I don’t want to screw up a master grade of something like that. So the genie pig for this experimentation is… … … a HGUC 1/144 Gogg that I got for RM20 at the 2006 Malaysia BAKUC. You can see the BAKUC coverage in this post.

Below is a simple WIP for this project.

Pictures of snap fit Gogg.

The body, shoulders, legs, and almost every part of the Gogg is pretty dull and uninteresting. I thought I make it more interesting my adding a few panel lines to it. I use masking tape to mark out the lines for scripting panel lines and use a homemade scriber to script the lines.

The scriber was made by inserting a suitable size needle into an old mechanical pencil. I learned this from the Dengeki magazine.

MG Gundam RX78 CA WIP

This is my entry for an out-of-box (OOB) competition organized by an online forum called Plamo. This competition is only open to MG Gundam kits featured in the One Year War era.

My entry is the MG Gundam RX78 CA. I got this kit couple of months ago but never get to build it until now. I thought this would be a great opportunity to build this kit and the competition would serves as a motivation for me to build it the best I can.

By the way, did I mentioned that this is the first ever MG kit I’ve ever built? I’m not sure how well can I cope with it. Lets wait and see how things turn out.

This post will be updated from time to time as I progress with the building of this kit so please check back here often for more updates.

This is the MG Gundam RX78 CA.

Spent last Saturday snap fitting the kit.
